Year 6 had a WONDERFUL day at Blists Hill Museum where they travelled back to the Victorian era and really got a feel for what life was like back then. They began the day by taking part in an Intaglio Printing workshop, using the printing machine which was many years old! For the rest of the day, they explored the exhibitions and looked at key landmarks at the museum. They asked the demonstrators fantastic questions which helped them understand and compare what life was like

Year 6 have had an absolutely amazing day, celebrating Children in Need and raising money for a FANTASTIC charity! They took part in a 25 minute scavenger hunt, where they had to find hidden Pudsey bears around school! Miss Louca had a list of clues which were given 1 by 1 to each group and they worked together as a team to hunt them around school. The children had so much fun doing this and what a great way for them to raise money! Well done Year 6!

We began by painting the Moon and the Sun, before moving on to design and paint our own imaginative planets. What a fantastic day Year 5 have had! As part of our Earth and Space topic, we were completely immersed in a spectacular Science Dome experience. Inside the dome, we explored the wonders of our Solar System — journeying past the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and learning all about the Apollo missions. All children across school took part in anti-bullying week and we kicked-started the week with everyone wearing Odd Socks to show how we are all individual and unique! This years theme was 'Power For Good' which was introduced in assembly to all children on 'Odd Socks Day'. Year 5 had a brilliant day raising money for #ChildrenInNeed  They absolutely loved their “25 sponsored Challenge” where they had to complete a 25 lap three-legged relay! They worked really well in pairs and had lots of fun! Thank you for all the donations, what a brilliant end to the week!

Our first Dodgeball Competition was last week and what a great performance from Team Edwards! Four rounds of games with different schools and several rounds in each, balls were flying left, right and centre. There was plenty of jumping and ducking, diving and deflecting and a constant show of pride for our school! 49 KS2 pupils will become published authors in the recent poetry competition with Young Writers: I have a dream. A fantastic experience and opportunity to excite our pupils and give them real purpose for their writing!

Bonfire celebration day went with off with a bang for EYFS this week.  We used our imaginations and senses in the morning and then Reception finished the celebrations by toasting marshmallows on a real fire. We had the best day!

We have well and truly flown through our Gymnastics unit! Early Years have been learning all about the different ways in which their bodies can move and cemented multiple gymnastics shapes including straight, pike, straddle and dish and such shapes. The second league mixed football game took place at the end of our first half term. The children were very excited the play this second fixture, with some fresh faces taking to the pitch the game was set. Long Knowle arrived with an Entourage of supporters, but our support base didn't let us down and arrived in full force. Three weeks ago, Katie (Y4) and her stage academy RSM had the opportunity to travel up to Peterborough for the National Entertainment Awards! There were 27 different acts taking part in a variety of singing and dancing performances. Nursery, Reception and Year 1 have enjoyed a wonderful puppet show delivered by Penn Puppets. They told the Aesop’s Fable -The Boy Who Cried Wolf through song and a Parable from the Bible -The Lost Sheep. What a wonderful time had by all!

Year 6 had the most fantastic day with Mr Ashton from Engagedu, building games using the software Scratch! The main focus was looking at variable changes and the children did a fantastic job at applying a range of skills to build a successful game!

Our first Mixed game and what a game it was! We hosted St Patricks on Thursday 9 th  October. The team were ready and raring to go! We played like a real team and were unlucky to loose 3-1. Initially we took the lead with Jenson (Y5) scoring from a deflection from St Patricks keeper.
