Community Links
At Edward the Elder Primary School we encourage links with our local community.
We believe that community links are essential in the growth, development and wellbeing of all our pupils. Links with our local community help us to build relationships with groups and individuals who will provide positive role models for our children.

The school is highly visible in the local community, regularly involving parents and carers in pupils’ learning.


Mother's Day Celebrations
Our Early Years had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration! The children absolutely loved spending time with their mums, nannies, and sisters. A big thank you to everyone who came—we hope you all have a lovely time celebrating on Sunday!


Year 3 Local Walk
Year 3 loved their walk round our local community as part of their ‘Out and About’ topic. The children were identifying and observing human and physical features in their environment. These observations are helping the children develop an understanding of why our local area looks the way it does and how these features influence where buildings and roads are located.


Get Caught Reading
A huge thank you to everyone so far who have shared their fantastic photos for Get Caught Reading! It was truly wonderful to see so many children enjoying their books in such a wide variety of places! Your creativity and love of reading really shone through in every picture.


Edwards' Elves!
Before the Christmas break, staff from school joined the Rotary on their annual sleigh ride around the local estate. Together they raised lots of money which will be used to support the local community. A massive thank you to families that popped out to say hello and also for their generous donations!


Penn Puppets!
Nursery, Reception and Year 1 have enjoyed a wonderful puppet show delivered by Penn Puppets. They told the Aesop’s Fable -The Boy Who Cried Wolf through song and a Parable from the Bible -The Lost Sheep. What a wonderful time had by all!


Visit to the Gudwara!
Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed a thoughtful and enriching visit to the local Gurdwara as part of our learning about Sikhism. The children were warmly welcomed by the community and had the opportunity to explore the prayer hall and listen to music. One of our talented Year 3s played for us too!
