Year 6’s DT Workshop at Wednesfield Academy

Year 6 had a fantastic morning at Wednesfield Academy, taking part in an exciting DT session.

First, Year 6 settled into the DT classroom – which was an experience in itself! The room was filled with new equipment and machinery. The lesson started with a health and safety talk, which included partner discussions.

Next, began by designing and making paper rockets, thinking carefully about a message to send into space before constructing their designs. The rockets were then launched on the school field using an air-powered launcher, with a fun class competition to see which went the highest and furthest.

After that, the teacher demonstrated a vacuum former, explaining how it is used to create hollow shapes and moulds from heated thermoplastics—just like many everyday objects.

To finish, a few lucky children took part in a timed F1 racetrack challenge, bringing the session to an exciting close.

A brilliant morning —super effort all!
