Year 3 have loved taking part in their Wild Tribe sessions this term! We have developed a wide variety of skills such as listening, building a fire, appreciating the outside world and taking time to be still and notice what is around us. A huge thank you to Mrs Roberts for planning and leading this wonderful opportunity…The soggy feet were absolutely worth it!

Year 3 had an amazing time on their recent visit to Severn Valley Country Park in Shropshire! The children spent the day immersed in nature, taking part in an exciting mini beast hunt where they discovered all sorts of fascinating insects and creatures in their natural habitats. Key Stage 2 had the exciting opportunity to visit the local high school to watch their performance of Matilda . The students enjoyed a morning of theatre, watching the talented cast bring the fantastic story to life on stage. It was a brilliant experience for the children, offering them a chance to appreciate live performances and the hard work involved in putting on a school production. Year 5 took part in a fun Computing workshop all about data and spreadsheets. First, we learned what data is and why it’s useful in real jobs like science and engineering. We collected our own data by rolling dice with a partner. Next, we used Google Sheets on the laptops. We learned important words lik e cell, row, column a nd how to find a cell reference . Year 5 had an exciting visit to the Science labs at Wednesfield Academy for their first real secondary‑school science lesson. To start, the children explored the lab, learned about important safety rules, and met a science teacher. They were then sorted into Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw House! Our Spotlight Dance Club has been running weekly throughout the spring term, and to showcase their learning the children gave a fantastic performance to families and staff. It was wonderful to see pupils from Reception all the way up to Year 6 working together so confidently and enthusiastically. Their hard work and dedication truly shone through in their performance. Year 4 had an exciting Rainforest Roadshow, and it felt like we stepped right into the Amazon. We were brave explorers as we held real rainforest creatures, including a tarantula, a praying mantis, and even a millipede. We had the opportunity to wear colourful Amazonian‑style face paint, which made us look like members of a rainforest tribe. We created our own jewellery inspired by rainforest designs and explored fascinating artefacts that showed how people in the rainforest

Reception have been full of excitement this week as we welcomed some very special new visitors into our classroom. Year One have enjoyed an exciting start to their thematic topic: Jurassic Hunter. We have been learning all about Mary Anning and how she found many dinosaur fossils and became the famous palaeontologist she is today. The children went on fossil hunts around school, learned a famous tongue twister about Mary Anning and listened to dinosaur stories. They spent their afternoon sketching fossils, freeing dinosaurs from ice, excavating bones from sand and stone and even made thei

Year 2 had a great time visiting Dudley Zoo as an introduction to their Animals including humans unit. They were able to observe a variety of animals they would not normally be able to see in their local area. They saw giraffe's, a tiger, monkey's, snow leopard's, orangutan's and even got up close to some lemurs. The children absolutely loved trying to spot where the animals were hiding in each enclosure. Year 1 visited Kingswood Trust Centre for the day to develop their geographical skills as part of their current Dimensions theme ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. We enjoyed lots of opportunities for map reading and comparing different localities. We completed a ‘peg orienteering’ challenge around the grounds and followed a map through the forest to find our way along an ‘Owl Trail’. Year 6 had a WONDERFUL day at Blists Hill Museum where they travelled back to the Victorian era and really got a feel for what life was like back then. They began the day by taking part in an Intaglio Printing workshop, using the printing machine which was many years old! For the rest of the day, they explored the exhibitions and looked at key landmarks at the museum. They asked the demonstrators fantastic questions which helped them understand and compare what life was like

Bonfire celebration day went with off with a bang for EYFS this week.  We used our imaginations and senses in the morning and then Reception finished the celebrations by toasting marshmallows on a real fire. We had the best day!
