Relay Your Way!

Updated: Jul 2

On Thursday 19th June, Edward the Elder teamed up with the charity Cerebral to help promote inclusion in sport whether that be a physical, mental, social or emotional additional needs through 'Relay Your Way!'.

The charity have been travelling across Britain with a baton whilst taking part in a variety of activities that allow inclusive participation through sport. When the team arrived at Edward the Elder Primary School they were met by our Year 6 children who took the baton through an obstacle course on our field and playground. The baton was passed on to a mix of children from each year group who transported it through a variety of obstacles. Smiles and joy could be seen from each and every child taking part. We finished our obstacle race with all the children joining together celebrating their achievement with a group parachute game.

The team then delivered an inspiring assembly to KS2 about the charity and how important inclusion is and how sport can be a great way to support and show this!

At Edward the Elder Primary School we are proud of our offer of inclusion inside and outside the classroom. We ensure all children are able to access and take part in sport through the curriculum and extra curriculum activities.

Well done to all the children involved and thank you and good luck to Cerebral with the rest of the 'Relay Your Way' journey!
