Harry Potter Chemistry Lesson

Year 5 had an exciting visit to the Science labs at Wednesfield Academy for their first real secondary‑school science lesson. To start, the children explored the lab, learned about important safety rules, and met a science teacher. They were then sorted into Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw House!

The class investigated whether different liquids were acids, alkalis or neutral by testing them carefully. They then made their own homemade indicator and used it to create colourful “potions,” practising how to use real scientific equipment for the first time.

It was a brilliant introduction to working in a science lab, and the children loved being real chemists for the day!
