We have well and truly flown through our Gymnastics unit! Early Years have been learning all about the different ways in which their bodies can move and cemented multiple gymnastics shapes including straight, pike, straddle and dish and such shapes. KS1 have been using the shapes previously learnt and to begin developing simple jumps and rolls including Star and Straight jumps and then log and forwards rolls.
Year 3 and Year 4 have moved their learning to focusing and using their core body muscles to show control when completing Tuck Jumps, T rolls and ways if travelling. Year 5 and Year 6 have created and developed a variety of sequences with the skills learnt from their prior learning whilst including Cartwheels, scissor kicks and straddle jumps. They have then moved on to peer and self evolutions with a focus on constructive criticism. A fantastic unit finished off with looking at inspirational gymnasts such as Simone Biles, Beth Tweedle and Nial Wilson. The children were also signposted to the local gymnastics club in Wednesfield: Nial Willson Gymnastics - Unit 1 Wednesfield Business Park, Waddensbrook Lane, Wednesfield, WV11 3SF.
