1/7/25 Athletics

We have finally made it round to our final competitive sporting event of the year: Athletics. Our children have been so excited practising and preparing themselves for the big event. We travelled to Aldersley leisure village and once they clapped eyes on the full-sized athletics track, they were all in awe! All the children were filled with anticipation and a little impatient wanting to get straight into their events.

A real range of events were on offer, and we filled them all - from long distance races such as the 400m and 800m, shorter sprints including the 80m and 150m, to throwing and jumping events. Both Shakeree and Shylah just missed out on placing in the long jump, along with Finley in the Obstacle and Iretomiwa in the 80m sprint. Finley, Riley, Alanna and Shylah were amazing in the long-distance events completing them in good times whilst managing pace tactics very well. Our sprinters – Mila, Neve and Iretomiwa flew down the track! Shakeree got through to the final in the 150m sprint and came away with a bronze medal: phenomenal!

All our children came together at the end of the competition to take part in the final event: the Relay. After a quick practice with the batons and introduction to the baton exchange zones they were ready and raring to go. The girls ran fantastically a massive well done to them. Our boys fought extremely hard and finished third in their heat.

We are as always, so proud of our children’s want and drive to take part in the competitive events. It is great to see how they are transferring their learnt skills from PE lessons and natural talent into practise. Bring on next year!

As always, we want to thank all of our supportive families, and we hope to see your continued support next year.

Thanks all and stay active!

Mrs L Harper 😊
