At Edward the Elder Primary School we recognise the valuable role that learning outdoors has on developing happy, healthy children.

Wilderness Warriors

Wilderness Warriors is a weekly extracurricular club where children take part in Forest School–style activities such as building dens, making campfires, and creating bird feeders. These hands-on outdoor experiences help to develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience, while encouraging a strong connection with nature. Children explore the outdoors in a safe, managed, and adventurous way, learning through play and discovery.

Wild Tribes

Wild Tribes is an exciting outdoor learning programme that brings the curriculum to life beyond the classroom. Rooted in nature, it promotes physical activity, emotional wellbeing, and a deeper connection with the environment. Children learn to manage risks, collaborate through team challenges, and build self-esteem while gaining practical skills like fire lighting, shelter building, and using tools safely. Some important factors of this type of learning are, giving children the opportunity to raise their self-esteem, gain confidence, encourage them to be more active and enhance the health and well-being of every child.
